It's been twelve months since my last skincare check in, of which two products still remain on rotation. Plus, a few skincare lessons for 2014...

1 · Make up removal

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

The budget-friendly version of Bioderma has become my go-to for removing make up. It works a treat on removing stubborn gel liner and mascara, as well as my base, without irritation or causing breakouts.

2 · Cleanse

Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash and Mask

One of the products I know I can rely on to keep my skin in check. Clay and salicylic acid feature high in the ingredients list, and even as a skincare novice, I've learnt my skin reacts well to these blemish fighting ingredients.

3 · Tone

The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner

Perhaps not necessary for everyone, but my skin appears to appreciate a soothing toner. A fuss free, alcohol and fragrance free product that alleviates skin and any irritated blemishes post-cleanse.

4 · Moisturise

Nivea Daily Essentials Oil Free Moisturising Day Cream

The product that kept dry skin at bay throughout 2014. Although I use a primer over this for long-wearing makeup days, this is a great base for make up on oily/combination skin.

5 · Treatment

The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask

An oldie but a goodie. The weekly spot and blackhead treatment that gives my skin a dose of tea tree and leaves it looking noticeably clearer once washed off. And the pot lasts forever.

Note to self:

· Drinking water and eating healthily does reflect itself in my skin

· Dabbling in skincare is oh so tempting, but is likely to wreak havoc

· The #1 rule: when you find a product or routine that works for you, stick to it

I'd love to know - what have been your skincare staples during 2014?
