Nail polish: one of my favourite beauty products yet it hardly gets a mention(!)
Barry M is somewhat of a household name when it comes to high street makeup; appealing to young teens and adults alike for over thirty years. I turn to the brand if I want to try something new, such as a matte, textured or a not-my-usual shade as they cover all bases, regularly add new collections and are always available at your local Boots or Superdrug.
As with most nail polish brands, I find some opaque shades a little hit and miss but overall the formula is good and lasts really well in the bottle over time.
RIMMEL LONDON SALON PRO NAIL COLOUR WITH LYCRA or RIMMEL 60 SECONDS
What I love most is the 'maxi brush'. The brush is wide and has a tapered end that mimics the shape of the bottom of the nail bed, ensuring a neat mani with minimal fuss. Why don't all nail polishes have this brush? It makes nail painting a doddle. It dries quickly and the finish is super shiny, too.
Try: Rose Libertine (my all time fave muted pink), Soul Session, Little Bo Peep
A Swiss brand that is underrated. I have owned a fair few 5ml bottles, and have been pleased with the formula and chip resistance of every shade. Mavala is often on sale in Debenhams, if not available in Boots.
Try: Poetic Rose, Berlin, Lyric
Another brand that has rebranded, and is now pals with Alexa and VB. Although I'm a little guarded about purchasing £10+ polishes, as there are decent high street counterparts at less than half the price, I have a soft spot for Nails Inc. The formula lasts well, and they offer a wide array of shades, textures, sets, you name it. However they are also the brand that discontinued my favourite nude, Cromwell Rd... Is Mayfair Lane its replacement?
Try: St James, Savile Row, Fulham Palace Road, Victoria
