THE NEW SPF

Having been on the hunt for the facial SPF for months, I settled on La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF50+ Dry Touch Gel-Cream. A third off French pharmacy on Escentual may have also helped seal the deal...

There are an array of facial SPFs available; I was almost tempted by the Soap & Glory SPF50 offering, however I had a little checklist in mind: preferably from a skincare brand, appropriate for sensitive, combination skin, a very high factor, not too expensive, and works well alongside the other products I am currently using. I was lured in by the extensive La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL range, and whittled it down to between the Ultra Light Fluid and Dry Touch-Gel Cream. Favouring a formula similar to the finish of my moisturiser - a fairly matte base that sits well with make up applied on top - the latter was added to my basket.

Fortunately, it lived up to expectations. Besides a little pilling around the edges of my face if I haven't allowed my moisturiser sink in, the Dry-Touch Gel Cream applies like a dream and creates a great base that sits between matte and dewy - think healthy, plumped skin - for make up. Even if I apply this fairly overzealously leaving a slight white cast, it can be rubbed in until almost unnoticeable. I use this all over the face, neck and chest area, and haven't had any breakouts or irritation. I would go as far to say this enhances my make up base, appropriate for the warmer weather and without being reduced to an oil slick by mid day. It's also handy that the product comes in a tube, so I hope to be able to use as much of the product as possible.

If you have sensitive, normal/oily/combination skin that is also prone to catching a bit too much of the sun, the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF50+ Dry Touch Gel-Cream is definitely worth considering.

Have you tried any of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL range? What's your favourite SPF?
