I recently read an article about women losing their makeup bags, not realising until the time comes that it's often hard and expensive to replace all the products immediately.
This made me curious to work out the cost of the contents of my every day makeup in my own make up bag.
I rarely go without primer when wearing foundation, and the Smashbox Travel Size Photo Finish Foundation Primer (£12.50) is my current favourite. Once you get used to the silicone feeling, it creates a smooth canvas ready for product. This was part of a set that also included a full-size version that I bought almost two years ago, and having not yet finished the second travel sized tube, it shows a little goes a long way!
Next up, Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation in 100 Ivory (£6.99) applied with a Real Techniques Stippling Brush gives me a nice base. However, I'm always on the look out for a lighter shade in a similar long-wearing formula! 'Ivory' is rarely pale enough for girls like me! I'm thinking of trying Bobbi Brown or Illamasqua when this runs out. Any suggestions are welcome :)
And of course, the raved about Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 Fair (£4.19) applied to under eye circles and imperfections. All the writing on the tube has inevitably rubbed off!
I fill in my eyebrows with the brown eyeshadow in the Essential Guide to Beauty Eyeshadow Trio (£2.99) with an angled brush to define my brows.
I then line the upper waterline of my eye using Jemma Kidd i-Glamour Define Eyeliner in 01 Black (£15.00). Because I don't like that little skin gap between the white of the eye and eyeliner... is that just me?
I prime my eyelids with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (£15.00) and contour the crease of my eyelid with 'Naked' from the Urban Decay Naked Palette (£36.00) using a No7 Eyeshadow Blend & Contour Brush (a good dupe of the Mac 217!).
Using a more precise angled brush, I apply Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in 02 Brown (£7.99) along the upper lash line. With an outer flick, if I have time!
I curl and apply Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara False Lash Effect in Superjet Black (£10.00) - such a long name - to my lashes. Note: not a fan of this mascara but it needs using up!
Just the one lip product, usually - a slick of Vaseline Rosy Lips Lip Therapy Stick (£2.05) and I'm good to go.
Back to what I originally wanted to find out. All of those products, so how much is my face worth? ...£112.71.
Yeah, I was shocked too.
How much is your face worth? Have you ever wondered what you'd do if you lost your makeup bag?
