An obvious one but after many years of not bothering - and burning, a lot - I vowed to myself last summer, that if the sun's out, sun cream is out. Never mind the long term damage it causes, I religiously use at least SPF30, usually SPF50 or 50+. Particularly important as I'm very pale and have moles. And I'm now the person that cringes when other people don't wear it.
TRESEMME INSTANT REFRESH DRY SHAMPOO
I hadn't bothered with dry shampoo for a while but now my hair has been cut a fair bit shorter, that means more touching, styling and inevitably more washing. I will tend to use this only if I simply haven't got the time to wash my hair or it needs a little freshening up. I would also say I prefer this to Batiste as this doesn't leave that gritty texture in the hair and haven't had any grey hair mishaps just yet.
Yup, flip flops/sandals/flat shoes giving you that not so nice hard skin when you want to show your feet off. This one was from Boots for a couple of pounds and with a bit of elbow work (gross), I'd say it's as good any expensive 'ped egg'.
MITCHUM ADVANCED CONTROL 48 HR ANTI-PERSPIRANT
Another not so glamourous essential but this is probably the best deodorant I've used. They have a spray version, which I've heard is good, too!
SMASHBOX PHOTO FINISH FOUNDATION PRIMER
After three years, it's still my go-to primer. It keeps my base in place against the summer heat!
COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION CONCEALER IN FAIR
I love this just as much as the rest of the blogging community. It's great all year round but is perfect for low maintenance make up. For me, that's covering under eye circles and blemishes, along with filled in brows and a slick of mascara.
REAL TECHNIQUES STIPPLING BRUSH
Love this for liquid foundation but works well with cream blush, too.
TWEEZERS, NAIL FILE, ETC
I picked up this cute little set in Penneys/Primark a little while ago and tend to throw it in my make up bag/bag for on the go. It's so annoying when you've got a stray brow hair that needs to be removed but have no tweezers to hand! The angled tweezers are also surprisingly good considering how cheap the set was.
NAILS INC NAIL POLISH IN OMP
This hot pink polish is similar to Nails Inc Shoreditch, as the photo doesn't quite reflect the actual vibrant shade. I own a few Nails Inc polishes and although I think a few lower end polishes are just as good for half the price, they do have a great range of colours and on the whole (bar one, Fulham Palace Road!) have lasted me well without separation or colour change. ...Painted toenails are a summer 'essential'!
